From Jannet Arrington Hatch - It seemed like every time we went to grandma’s house, she had these cookies in the fridge for us to eat! Attached you should find a couple of my favorites from Cecil Sherwood! I always wondered how she kept the cookies in the fridge when Grandpa was diabetic. We can’t stop eating them once they are made!

Peanut Butter Clusters
 

Ingredients:
½ C. sugar ½ C. white karo syrup
½ cube butter     

Place in heavy pan and let come to a full boil.

Remove from stove and stir in:
2/3 C. smooth peanut butter and 4 C. Special K cereal

Drop cookies on wax paper. Keep refrigerated



Picnic Cake
 

Mix and let cool:
1 C. pitted dates 1 ½ C. boiling water
1 tsp. soda

Mix together:
1 C. Sugar ¾ C. shortening
½ tsp. salt 2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine the two mixtures, then add:
1 ¾ C. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon


Put in cake pan and cover with:
½ C. nuts                            1 6oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 C. brown sugar

Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
